The central gulf coast of Texas
We are where the Colorado River enters the Gulf of Mexico
Take Highway 60 South out of the center of Bay City to Matagorda Bay.
The Matagorda Bay area
At the center of Matagorda Bay is a single flashing yellow light
Turn left at the light, go over the "swing" bridge that crosses the
inter coastal waterway. Be prepared for a wait, as there is a fair amount of
water traffic. The locks on the right allow boats to cross the mouth of the
Colorado River. The construction of the new bridge replacing the swing bridge
is causing continuing re-alignment of the road approaching the swing bridge
- drive alert and safely.
Follow the road 5.5 miles past the bridge to the first road that goes to the left. Follow the sign for "Beach Access" (it is right where the power/phone line pole switch back to the left side of the road. Turn off the beach access road just past the helicopter pad drive and proceed through the gate to unit 21 or 22. They are the first unit past the walkway to the pool island.
